OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE
Barbados is located northwest of Venezuela, and is the most easterly of the Caribbean islands.
Barbados
covers an area of about 167 sq. miles. Barbados is
otherwise almost flat with its foundation being made mostly of coral. The island is semitropical with beautiful
beaches.
Ghana is just north of the equator and its
neighboring countries are Ivory Coast
on the west, Burkino Faso on the north, and Togo in the east. Ghana was once known as the Gold
Coast for being the trade center of gold and ivory. Ghana covers an area of 91,690 sq.
miles.
Grenada lies north of Trinidad, and is the most
southern of the Windward Islands. Grenada covers an area of about 135
sq. miles. The islands’ terrain is
spotted with volcanic mountains, and rugged coasts.
Guyana “At
the point where the Caribbean meets South America on its North Atlantic
seaboard lies an almost unknown, but incredibly wonderful land of un-spoilt
beauty, where the virgin rainforest leads to the Amazon Basin.” Guyana covers an area of 83,000 sq.
miles.
Haiti shares the same island as the Dominican Republic,
but it only covers a third of the island as a whole. Haiti covers an area of about
10,720 sq. miles. Most of Haiti is
uninhabitable due to the rough mountainous terrain. The other areas are lush with lakes and
rivers.
India’s subcontinent is in Asia. It is a peninsula and the three sides are
surrounded by Arabian Sea in the south west, Bay of Bengal in the south east
and Indian Ocean in the South. India
covers an area of 3,287,263 sq. kilometers.
Jamaica “Nothing has been left undone, either by
man or nature, to make Jamaica
the most extraordinary island that the sun visits on its rounds.” Jamaica is located west of Haiti, and south of Cuba,
in the Caribbean Sea. Jamaica
covers an area of about 4,411 sq. miles, making it the third largest island in
the Caribbean. Mountains in the middle area and the
coastal areas are low with hills, rivers, and streams. The climate is pleasantly tropical with
beautiful beaches.
Panama covers
an area of 29,208 sq. miles with a population of 2.7 million. Panama’s water is the purest in the
world. The climate is pleasantly
tropical.
Philippines
is an archipelagic nation made up of 7,107 islands spanning 1,840 kilometers
north to south. With a land mass of
300,780 square kilometers, the Philippines
is considered a medium-sized nation, about two-thirds the size of its first
colonizer, Spain and a
little larger than the British Isles. The Philippines is pleasantly tropical.
Sierra Leone is
a small country on the West Coast of Africa.
Guinea borders it in
the north and west; Liberia
in the south and the Atlantic Ocean flow along
the western shoreline. Sierra
Leone covers an area of 28,000 sq. miles.
St.
Vincent is located in the lower end of the Caribbean chain, and is one of the Windward Islands. St. Vincent covers an area of about 140 sq. miles. The island is fairly dominated by the
volcanic mountains, which are healthy with vegetation and a beautiful tropical
weather and white sandy beaches.
Trinidad and Tobago is located north of the most
northern coast of Venezuela,
and is the most southern island, along with Tobago, of the Lesser
Antilles chain. Covers an
area of about
1,900 sq. miles. The islands’
terrain varies widely, from tropical forests, to swampy areas, to beautiful low
mountain ranges with an elevation as high as 3000 ft.
US. Virgin Islands St. Thomas, St. Croix & St. John the
islands are located south of the Bahamas chains, and north of Haiti, in the Caribbean
Sea, covers a total area of about 165 sq. miles. The islands are relatively flat, with a
limestone foundation. There are numerous keys, and beautiful sandy white
beaches.
